Amport Fete 2006 Pictures
The storm that hit the
Fete just after it opened had two main consequences - it greatly reduced the
takings and it brought out an amazing determination in people not to give up.
The downpour and wind
cause a lot of damage to soft goods, particularly to books and toys, and tents
were damaged. However, the positive reaction to hang on to the tents and marquee
in the gale minimised the danger and damage, and after two hours of minimal
trading, the sun came out and villagers appeared in good number to save the day.
About £2,200 was made, and we are so grateful to all, the Hawk Conservancy
Ferret Team members being notable in helping to hold the marquee safe whilst the
many sprung tent pegs were replaced.
In 2007, the Fete will
be held on 21 July.
