Calling Old Amportonians?

Did you go to Amport School or know anyone else who did?

Amport School is planning a Summer Open Day on Saturday 7 June, with displays looking back at the school over the last 60 years.  We’ve looked in the attic and found some old school photographs and memorabilia but we need more for our displays.  We are particularly interested in photographs of school activities, trips or competitions. However we would also like to have whole school or class photographs.  We are happy to make copies and return the originals.

We are also looking for any objects you may have from your time at Amport School whether old workbooks, certificates, badges, items of uniform, or even school reports (both good or bad!) that we could display.

Today’s pupils at the school will be involved in the displays with each year group helping to recreate the music and food inspired by past decades from the Forties to the Naughties.  The event will also include maypole dancing by the current pupils taught by ex head teacher Mrs Peck.  The maypole dancing is giving the event its name – The Maypole Open Day and is planned for Saturday 7 June.

We would like to invite as many ex-pupils and ex-teachers to join us, share their memories, identify themselves and friends in the photographs and maybe even catch up with long lost friends.  So please put the date in your diary and tell as many people as possible.
