Amport Fete 2005

Thank you to everyone who helped our fete on 23 July. We were extremely lucky with the weather and were able to donate a little under £4,000 to St Mary's Church's diminishing funds; in addition, the raffle in aid of the Hawk Conservancy made £500.

I would like to thank Toby and Gina Wyles for their generous sponsorship of the Beer Tent and to Buchanans for making the tent possible. Of course the long-established team who ran the stalls and tea tent are all to be thanked, and the newer team who ran the Children's Activities so well under Karl Goble's leadership have created a new exciting atmosphere and activities which have led to children and parents staying longer than usual.

The Hog Roast in the evening was very well attended and our thanks go to the Van de Pette family for the organisation of that. This year we took the private tents down before all were ready to leave, but this was because of impending rain and need not happen next year.

The "St Mary's Lily Appeal", which is seeking a great deal of money to make the Church more usable for us all, and to repair and restore damage, will start early next year, and the PCC has agreed that the next fete will be on 22 July 2006, so please put the date in your diaries now. If anyone would like to join in by helping with a stall or with new ideas, they will be most welcome. Just contact Carolyn (fete coordinator) on 772240.
