Four Parishes Arts Society - April 2003

On the 11 March, Pauline Cherrett gave a wonderful talk and demonstration on Chinese Brush Painting. She presented her subject with such tremendous enthusiasm that everyone at the meeting could not fail to be inspired. Brushes with such lovely names as wolf, badger, sheep and horse are so diverse in their makeup. Also the paper used, glass, hemp, cotton and mulberry can all produce different effects. The painting technique is so different to our Western teachings and is brought out by the way the brush is held, loaded with paint and angled. Many members bought books, brushes and cards, with the intention to have a go themselves.

On the 8 April Amy Dennis is our speaker; she is going to talk about several different types of handicrafts. Many people living in this area know Amy well - she is a tremendous character and a very clever craftsperson. This meeting will be friendly, entertaining and a chance to see how her wonderful crafts are made, don't miss it.

Please remember to put your names down on the various lists - David Beeson' s garden at Andover Down on Thursday 22 May and Wilton House on Tuesday 10 June, or ring Caroline on 772375 for information and help. Remember also the Test Valley Arts 2003 and get some work up together for a really good Exhibition on the 8 June. - M.W
