Four Parishes Arts Society - October 2004

We were blessed with a perfectly lovely day for our visit to Tyntesfield and Dyrham Park and saw the properties and surrounding countryside at their very best.

We were extremely lucky, due to Veronica's efforts, to get a booking for Tyntesfield as admission is by group reservation only at present. It was fascinating to get a glimpse of this time warp of Victorian life both above and below stairs and to visit the chapel. It will be interesting to go back in a few years’ time and see the changes and hopefully visit the upstairs apartments.

After a picnic lunch we went on to Dyrham Park, which was completely different but again very interesting, and the setting was spectacular.

At our AGM on 14 September, the Chairman reported on a very successful year. She then told the membership that the committee was in a difficult position as four members, including herself, the Secretary, Treasurer and Events Secretary were all due to retire according to the rules of the Constitution. Since no-one had come forward to fill the vacancies, it was agreed that the officers could stay on for a further year. A vote was then carried for an amendment to the Constitution to make it more flexible should such a situation occur again. The next meeting on 12 October at Grateley Village Hall will be a watercolour demonstration by Clare Russell entitled "Still Life with Flowers"
