Four Parishes Arts Society - March 2005The
speaker at the February meeting of the Four Parishes Arts Society was Letta
Jones, a landscape horticulturalist who teaches mature students at Birkbeck
College and the Natural History Museum as well as at the Marlborough College
Summer School. She showed us a selection of slides reflecting the beauty and
diversity of trees throughout the seasons. She concentrated particularly on the
colourful berries and leaves of autumn and on the beautiful sculptural outlines
of some of the country's finest trees in winter. Throughout the evening Letta
displayed a deep knowledge and love of trees and their habitat, and responded to
the many questions that followed her presentation with complete confidence
delightfully spiced with humour . Our
March meeting will be something quite different. Frank Green, Heritage Officer
TVBC, is going to give us a talk on The Archaeology of Mottisfont Abbey. We
hope by then to be able to tell you that we have secured seats for a production
at the Globe Theatre towards the end of June, the choice of venue for our summer
outing. |
