Four Parishes Arts Society - September 2005

For the July meeting of the society we were presented with a comprehensive selection of art materials by Robina Orchard and told 'Anyone can Paint'. We proceeded to show her how wrong she was! It was a most instructive yet hilarious evening and we all enjoyed it, even if we did make a mess. Thank you Robina.

In August, we had the long awaited outing to Highclere Castle for the Battle Prom and Fireworks. It was a beautiful evening, dry but chilly, and the atmosphere amongst the crowds happy and expectant; we were not disappointed. The displays by the English Field Artillery Company and Napoleonic Association were colourful and entertaining. The music, especially by the 14-year-old violinist Victoria Goldsmith and the blind opera singer Denise Leigh, was great. The evening ended with a truly spectacular fireworks display and the organisation of the whole event was excellent. Many thanks to Renate for all the hard work getting us there - a lovely evening.

Our meeting on 13 September will be our AGM followed by 'A Japanese Evening' with Sue Ryan. It will be at 7.30 p.m. at the Amport and Monxton Village Hall.
