Four Parishes Arts Society - March 2006Our speaker and demonstrator, Ruth Facey, riveted us with her light-hearted account of her varied and busy background, which was always with an artistic theme and which led her to become a full time jewellery designer. Demanding though her work was, she found the time and energy to take an MA degree in Design History and Material Culture. She has developed, and continues to develop, an appealing contemporary style which is very much her own. Using a blowtorch with a substantial gas cylinder, Ruth demonstrated and demystified the techniques she uses with so much skill. Members of the audience were encouraged to try their hands at her work bench but they did not find it quite as easy as she made it appear. Photographic Evening. 11 April, Monxton Village Hall. Members are invited to show examples of their favourite photographs taken by themselves at an informal exhibition organised by Len Lock (772030) and Michael Ross (710053). Photographs, including mounts, should not be larger than A4; smaller sizes will be welcome. Screens will be provided and there will be table space for unmounted photographs. Please take your pictures which can be on any subject to Michael Ross, Len Lock or Joan Leslie before 4 April. It is hoped that this will be a very enjoyable evening with discussion and refreshments organised by Petra Green. Summer Art Exhibition. 20 and 21 May, Quarley Village Hall. The Society’s Art Exhibition will run concurrently with Project Workshops Open Days. Please prepare your pictures and sculptures for this event. There will be plenty of space for members wishing to display and sell any form of craft work. This is a preliminary notice and more information will be available shortly. In the meanwhile, enquiries to Joan Leslie (710253). |
