AMPORT PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the Ordinary Meeting held on Monday November 15th 2004
at 7.45pm at Amport School
1. Present Mr I. Morrison,
(Chairman), Lt Col Stephens, (Vice Chairman), Mrs Carolyn Mallam, Mrs Diana
Preston, Mr Neville Geake, Mr Ian Long, Mr George Bacon, Mrs Suzanne Hoare
(Clerk)
Mrs Unwin, the village correspondent was present. No members of the public
attended.

2. Minutes of the Previous Meeting
These were agreed and signed.
3. Matters Arising from the last meeting
Ian Morrison and Tim Southern will determine how many
children use the bus shelter at Fyfield on a regular basis. Sarah Hammer will
be asked to contact Steve Verdier to confirm numbers using the shelter
and ask if he wishes to redecorate/ help organise the redecoration of the
bus shelter.
Diana Preston was concerned that salt continues to be stored in the bus
shelter at Fox. Ian Morrison to investigate.
Simon Chesshire was contacted and offered help erecting barriers on his
footpaths. He is currently considering this course of action and may contact us
further with regard to our offer of help.
A meeting is to be arranged between Ian Morrison, George Bacon and Maurice
Hardy with regard to producing a specification and contract for the cutting
of the Green and Footpaths during 2005.
Ian Morrison cannot attend the award ceremony at John Hanson School on the 17th
Nov; unless anyone else is able to attend we will send our apologies clerk.
During his planting of the hedge at Sarson Farm, Dr Hoole did not receive
any grant to undertake the project.
Matthew Ann has removed the tree blocking Pill Hill Brook.
The Fairground Hall will be booked for the 4th Monday in June 2005 as
most other dates are already full.
The Green
Mr Pasque’s quote for cutting the Green next year is
£940 and an invoice for this year’s cutting was presented – cost £765.
This will be discussed at the Green/Footpath meeting.
Village Design Statement
The draft was given to Ian Morrison to read and
comment on before the next meeting.
Footpaths
Maurice Hardy was not present at the meeting so
discussions were deffered.
4. New Matters
The possible reduction in meetings of the Parish Council was
discussed. All councillors present felt that regular but shorter meetings would
be advantageous and that more regular meetings would enable councillors to keep
in touch with proceedings.

8. Correspondence
Bawden Contractors have written offering their services as
aboriculturist - kept on file.
Test Valley – listening to you meeting reminder Nov 16th at Andover
Museum.
CPRE membership renewal was discussed; a vote resulted in a 4- 2 majority in
favour of rejoining this organisation.
Ian Long took the literature on Quality Councils for assessment.
9. A.O.B
Carolyn Mallam asked if any help was available for lifeline
alerts for elderly residents within the Parish. Ian Morrison undertook to
contact Testway Housing to assess any help, which may be available.
George Bacon felt the existing budget for grass cutting would need to be
increased for the 2005 season, this will be clarified at the forthcoming
meeting. George felt that more publicity was necessary to alert people within
the Parish that funding was available for projects.
Ian Long was concerned about the general functioning of the Parish Council and
its role within the Parish.
Neville Geake would like to see roving dog mess signs move onto popular
footpaths within the Parish. Clerk to investigate whether these are
available from TVBC.
Diana Preston alerted the meeting to the Man and Van clearance scheme available
through TVBC and the prospect of serious problems concerning the fabric and use
of Monxton Village Hall.
Concern was expressed as to the length of time travellers have occupied Grateley
Drove a letter will be written to the Gypsy Liaison Officer at HCC to determine
whether travellers could have any claim on this BOAT (No 30) of which part is
Amport parish.
