mentioned Mr Horne’s long service and that of his brother before him and a
photo was taken of the Ian Morrison presenting a framed sketch of Amport by

earlier in the day of Mr Horne in the village, recognising his half century of
service to the village.
5. Reports
The Green and play area
The quotes for the 2007 grass cutting contract have
arrived, Carolyn Mallam stated that she was unable to deal with the selection
this time and the quotes were handed to Mr Maurice Hardy for his consideration
and recommendation at the next Parish Council meeting in January( contractors
will be advised of the delay). Mr Walker of Test Valley Gardencare has already
notified Carolyn Mallam that he doesn’t want to bid for the contract.
An invoice has arrived for 2 cuts of the grass in November and it was agreed to
write to Test Valley Gardencare and ask if this was an error as no grass cutting
was undertaken in November. IM/Clerk
The new goal post sockets need to be positioned and this will be
organised with initially one set of goal posts being erected. IM/Clerk
The verge opposite the entrance to the Old Farm on the Green has been
reduced by ditch clearance and ever increasing use of the roadway, Mr Platt the
house owner has lost a reversing car into the ditch in the dark.
Discussions took place over a solution to this problem and it was agreed by 5
votes for, 1 against and 1 abstention that the sign warning dog owners that
children play on the Green be moved to this narrow area. If this proves
unsatisfactory then reflective posts may be considered. Clerk
to organise
VDS
This issue is ongoing.
The new Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report now needed will further delay
the VDS until late January early February 2007.
Footpaths and Highways
It was noted that most overgrown hedges in the village have now been cut.
Stroud’s Field
Currently no response has been received from Hampshire
Wildlife trust in reply to our letter for assistance. Mr David Horne is
interested in becoming part of the Stroud’s Field Committee and it is hoped
that the committee will produce quarterly reports and plans which will lead to
requests for funding and or grants.
