AMPORT PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the Ordinary Meeting held on Monday 17st March 2008 at
7.45 pm in Amport School Hall.
1. Present
Mr I. Morrison, (Chairman), Mr Bill Gore, Mrs Jean Arnell , Mrs Tanya Garman,
Mrs Carolyn Mallam, Mrs Diana Preston and Mrs Suzanne Hoare (Clerk)

The village correspondent was present.
No members of the public were present.
2. Minutes of the Previous Meeting
The minutes were agreed and signed after, having been proposed by Diana Preston
and seconded by Carolyn Mallam.
3. Matters Arising from the last meeting and Declarations of
Interest
Mr Hayward from Grateley had been approached about repairing the roof of the bus
shelter outside the Amport Inn, he felt the job beyond his normal line of
repairs and therefore Chappell Builders will be contacted and their bid of £
233 for the task will be accepted. Clerk
Ian Morrison expressed his thanks to David Preston for putting the VDS on the
website.
Photographs of the village are being collated for use on the cover and disc,
which is the planned format of the VDS in the future. IM/Mike

Telegraph poles for use on the Green are still under investigation.

No interests were declared at tonight’s meeting.
4. Reports
The Green and Amport Fen
A letter has been sent out to all parents at the school asking for their support
during the ongoing regeneration project on the Green and Fen, the letter was
approved by several members of the PC and Mrs Fleet before distribution.
David Horne and Sarah Hammer will follow up the letter with a visit to the
school.
The community workers are scheduled for a return visit in September. The
community work leader Paula Robertson will be invited to talk at the Annual
Parish Meeting in April. Clerk
Footpaths and Highways
It was agreed that an ownership ledger needs to be produced where possible for
all footpaths within the Parish.
Mr Langdown will be contacted about the anti fly tipping posts on Green Lane.
Ian Morrison said he had looked at the part of footpath 6 which crosses the
water by Sarson Mill but will get Bill Gore to look again with Caroline Unwin,
who feels there is a problem.
Ian Long registered a problem via e-mail concerning the eroded surface outside
Flagons Ian Morrison
will check on this.
The problem of the unsightly caravan was not felt to be something the Parish
Council could do anything about.
Tesco Application
No update
Weyhill Play Area
Sarah Hammer reported via Ian Morrison in her absence.
The general feeling is that the children in Fairways and Michaelmas would like
play equipment; the population north of the A303 within the parish of Amport is
recorded at 377 on the Electoral register.
The Parish has written to Christopher Dunning and thanked him for his generous
offer.
Further help can be gained from Rachel Adams a play adviser at TVBC and Marianne
Piggin – grants adviser at TVBC.
5. Planning Applications
The budget update was presented, no comments were received and
the end of year accounts will be available at the April meeting.
8. AOB and Correspondence
Diana Preston asked if purchasing a portaloo would be a good investment for the
Parish - Ian Morrison said he would investigate
Diana Preston further commented that littering was a problem from
cars on the A303 around the Quarley junction – it was felt that little could
be done about this.
Jean Arnell asked what the current situation was with regard to the flooding by
Waterloo Bridge - Ian Morrison said he would follow this up with Hampshire
Highways via Tim Southern.
The Meeting closed at 8.40 pm.
