Amport and Monxton Village Hall

Unfortunately the usage of the Hall has fallen to such an extent that the booking income no longer covers the operating costs of the Hall; therefore the Village Hall Committee have decided that it would be unwise to proceed with the major improvements to the Hall. The monthly booking income is now averaging only £130, whereas the operating costs of the Hall, including lighting, heating, water, maintenance, cleaning, insurance and licence fees, are over £3600 per annum. We need an income of £300 per month to cover those operating costs.

The funds that have been raised for the improvements will now be used partly for the repairs to the hall extension roof and to subsidise the shortfall in the operating costs over the next few years. Should there be a substantial improvement in the Hall income over the next twelve months then the matter of the major improvements will be reviewed.

To ensure the long term future of the Hall, beyond the next four years, we need more people to use the Hall regularly and more people to volunteer to help run special events, such as the very successful "D-Day" supper held recently, the Christmas supper and Spanish evening held last year.

Unless the villagers from both Monxton and Amport do make use of their village Hall, it will eventually have to close because of lack of income. - Village Hall Committee
