Four Parishes Arts Society - April 2004

The next meeting is on 11 May at Grateley and will be a talk by Laura Ponsonby on the history of Kew Gardens in anticipation of the visit to the Gardens on 8 June. This visit will include a guided tour of the gardens including the Palm House, Temperate House and Conservatory with its ten climatic zones.

We are very fortunate to have secured a booking for Tyntesfield House on 31 August and the trip will also take in Dyrham Park, a baroque mansion north of Bath. Tickets for both these outings are NOT restricted to members of the society, so any residents of the parishes would be more than welcome to join the party. Anyone interested should contact Veronica Bacon on 771285, as soon as possible. Payment is due now for Kew in order to reserve a place on the coach. (£16 for adults, £14 for 60+ and £8 under 16).

Members are reminded that the Summer Exhibition this year is at Monxton and includes strawberry teas! ! Hopefully exhibitors are busy beavering away!

We still need volunteers for the committee as four of the present committee are due to retire in September. Anyone who feels they can spare some time (no art skills required) should contact Caroline Unwin (772375).

And finally, the society would welcome new members from any of the four villages. The programme is very varied and covers art in the broadest sense of the word and can be viewed on the village web sites. - PMG
