Four Parishes Arts Society - July 2009The Hampshire Guitar
Orchestra - Saturday 13 June 2009
On
this lovely summer evening, Quarley Hall was filled to capacity with an
enthusiastic audience as they listened to the outstanding playing of the
Hampshire Guitar Orchestra. The
concert included a huge variety of styles including classical, jazz, pop and
film music, with tunes and melodies that took many of those present back to the
past and the old familiar tunes. These
tunes were played on 15 guitars including four different sizes of the
instrument. Their
leader, Derek Halsted, arranged the ensemble’s music and kept us entertained
and amused throughout the evening with his anecdotes and jokes. For
refreshments some members had made a very tasty Pimms which went down very well
on a warm evening together with ‘tasty bites’. The concert was held in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society and the Four Parishes Arts Society is delighted to send them a cheque for £665. Also the Four Parishes would like to thank members and friends for supporting such a wonderful evening and a truly worthy cause. Future
